How do I read this tournament schedule?

Go to the Tourney Brackets page and determine if your team is in a 4-team division or
a 6-team division.

If your team is in a 4-team division,
Go the Tourney Schedule page, and either look at the schedule shown there, or
download a copy of the schedule in Excel (.XLS) format, or in Adobe Acrobat reader
(.PDF) and review the copy of the schedule on your computer instead.

The easiest way to search for your games is by coach last name.

You will see THREE (3) games on the tourney schedule by your coach last name, if
you are in a 4-team division.

There are no further games for your team. Everyone plays only 3 games. The winner
of the 4-team group is the champion. If you are tied at 2-1 record with another team,
then your head-to-head result with the other team is the tie-breaker to dtermine the
champion.

If your team is in a 6-team division,
Go the Tourney Schedule page, and either look at the schedule shown there, or
download a copy of the schedule in Excel (.XLS) format, or in Adobe Acrobat reader
(.PDF) and review the copy of the schedule on your computer instead.

Instead of seeing 3 games for your team, you will see 2 games and a playoff game for
your division. Again, like all other teams, each team plays 3 games in total.

Find the 2 games by your coach last name. Got it?

Now, your 3rd game is not listed by coach name, as your opponent is not yet decided.
Instead on Sunday's schedule you will see 1st place, 3rd place and 5th place games
listed for your specific division (by gender, grade and division name). One of those
games will be your 3rd tourney game against an opponent yet to be decided.

How is the opponent of the 3rd game decided?

If you are in a 6-team division, there are 2 groups of 3 teams.

For example, there is a Grade 8 Boys Atlantic Division made up of 2 groups of 3
teams. The winner of the Atlantic North group will play the winner of the Atlantic South
group in the 1st place game on Sunday at 12:00 Noon on the Main Court at WHS.
It is shown on the schedule as "B.8.ATL.1st_place (Boys 8 Atlantic Championship)".

Similarly, the teams that finish 2nd in each group play each other (2nd place Atlantic
South versus 2nd place Atlantic North) in the "B.8.ATL.3rd_place (Boys 8 Atlantic 3rd
Place Game)", and the teams that finish last in their respective 3-team group, play
each other in the "B.8.ATL.5th_place (Boys 8 Atlantic 5th Place Game)".

One goal of the tourney is to provided all teams competitive games. Another is to give
each team a chance of winning at least one game. By pairing the two least successful
teams against each other, this attempts to increase those chances. Historically, 80%
of teams in the tourney win at least one game.
