About The Tournament

The 2010 Winchester March Madness Tournament will be in its 18th year. It is a
Massachusetts basketball event for middle school athletes (boys and girls) in
Grades 6-8. The tournament exclusively features (and requires)
PERSON-TO-PERSON DEFENSE ONLY by all teams - encouraging the
development of individuals in the fundamentals of the game.

The 2009 participants included (94) ninety-four teams, from local communities
including Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Burlington, Concord-Carlisle, Georgetown,
Lexington, Medford, Reading, Somerville, Stoneham, Tyngsboro, Wakefield,
Watertown, and Winchester. Nearly one-thousand (1000) athletes participated in the
2009 tournament an increase of 30% from last year, and our largest ever
tournament.

The tournament is managed by the Winchester Basketball Association (WBA). It is a
501c3, non-profit organization that continues to support the development and
promotion of recreational, Massachusetts basketball for both middle-schoolers,
young adults and adults.

In addition to the tournament, WBA is responsible for supporting local adult
basketball activity, weekly basketball clinics for grades 3-8, and participating in the
development and refurbishment of new and existing basketball facilities in the town
of Winchester.
